SURVIVOR BACKPACKS
Our goal is to create 100 backpacks that will be given, for free, to all attendees of our Creative Healing Retreats and also to newly diagnosed breast cancer survivors in San Luis Obispo County.
The backpacks will be sturdy and re-usable (and NOT pink) and will include a Thriving After Breast Cancer book, a Focus on Healing through Movement & Dance for the Breast Cancer Survivor DVD, a Rest Easy Guided Relaxation CD, a Healing Companion Guided Journal, information on lymphedema, a compass (to help navigate this cancer journey), information from all local businesses and organizations that provide services for breast cancer survivors, and some extra treats.
The cost of these backpacks is about $100 per pack, so we are constantly seeking funding. Click Here for funding and donation details.
CREATIVE HEALING RETREATS
Our Creative Healing Retreats for Breast Cancer Survivors are a huge success. We now hold two per year and hope to add a more up-scale, high-end retreat. The fee for this new retreat will include a $1,000 tax-deductible amount that will go directly to our Creative Healing Retreat Fund to help us fund the other two annual retreats, which only cost attendees $150 (while our cost per person is $900, so we are always looking for sponsorship and funding.)
MONTHLY SUPPORT MEETINGS
Enhancement now holds monthly support group meetings for all breast cancer survivors. We have guest speakers at each event, provide snacks, and time for networking and sharing. We would like to be able to offer a stipend to our guest presenters. Click Here for funding and donation details.
FREE YOGA CLASSES FOR CANCER SURVIVORS
These specialized classes offer gentle stretches, breathing and relaxation techniques, and tools to help improve quality of life for all cancer survivors as well as their spouses, family, and/or caregivers. We are adding a second weekly class in 2010.
FOCUS on HEALING DVD in RACE for the CURE SURVIVOR BAGS
We continue to distribute and promote Focus on Healing through Movement and Dance, the video and DVD that we produced with Sherry Lebed Davis. We want to place a free DVD in each Survivor Gift Bag at the Race For the Cure events in 2011. We are still looking for sponsorship to help us accomplish this.
